Fiber Optic Packaging Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work in support of R&D and Production. This position will develop packaging, both new concepts and evolutionary improvements, for an expanding line of passive and active fiber optic-based devices and assemblies that have stringent requirements, which can include:

• Polarization maintenance
• Hermetic and near-hermetic packaging
• High optical power and thermal management
• Harsh environment applications
• Package flexibility
• Mil-spec and Telcordia testing

Position requirements:

• Strong and demonstrable experience including materials selection, process development, design and testing expertise
• Strong and demonstrable experience in packaging of optical fiber-based devices
• Excellent communications (verbal and written) and teamwork skills
• Experience working with non-standard production processes is a plus
• Strong optical fiber slicing expertise is a plus

Technician

We are seeking a motivated team player as a full-time technician to assist in R&D and production of fiber optic components. We will teach many of the required skills and knowledge. The candidate should bring meticulous care and attention to detail and will be working with specialized precision equipment used in processing and analyzing fiber-based components. Proficiency with a PC is a plus.
